Mapping and reconnecting culturally significant materials held in external collections
East Sumba Cultural Return is a public-facing resource that returns digital records of culturally significant East Sumbanese materials, stewarded in external collections worldwide, to communities of origin. Version 1 focuses on textiles; future versions will include other material and intangible cultural heritage. It draws these dispersed holdings into a single chronological archive, ordered two ways, by acquisition date and by estimated age. An acquisition date sets a firm terminus ante quem, so a textile collected in 1921 was necessarily made before that date.
